In 1984, fossil hunter Kamoya Kimeu discovered a small skull fragment as he was taking a walk in Nariokotome on the western side of Lake Turkana.
Following subsequent excavations and studies, the remains were found to be those of a homo erectus young boy nicknamed 'Turkana Boy' dating back to over 1.5 million years ago.
Brand Kenya CEO Mary Kimonye, ambassadors Etienne De Poncins of France, David Angell of Canada and Paola Imperiale of Italy joined invited guests committed to the management of natural heritage for a dinner at the National Museums of Kenya in honour of 'Turkana Boy'.
In a rare precedence, the guests had an opportunity to view the original fossil specimens, interact with Kimeu and also learn more about the history of the discovery which has resulted in Kenya being christened the 'cradle of mankind'.
