Longwear make-up, Kwambox, white boys and other things I like

So, I started wearing make-up again. The last time I tried wearing make-up, I was in Kakamega town, the foundation I bought at Dubois Street running down my face mixed with sweat and dust.

At that time, the only thing I knew about make-up was that a friend of mine was doing it; my roommate was also doing it but she was horrible at it and I wanted to do it too. I don’t remember shade matching, finding something that compliments your skin type like a hydrating product if you have dry skin or any of the careful tips I follow now as part of my make-up routine.

I’m not rushing into anything though. It’s just concealer and a playful eye look for now but I’m thinking about laying some primer and foundation in the Spring. I feel like every time I’m doing make-up now, I’m choosing my theme for the day. My mood board and I’m interacting with myself in a really nice and intimate space. Cute little meditation time.

I also discovered I use this word loosely, Audiobook! I finally started listening to podcasts at the end of last year. I’m still very sceptical about listening to a lot of podcasts because I don’t need too many other people in my ear like that.

However, I have curated a list of my favourite podcasts and listen to them religiously. It’s Related I Promise, Legally Clueless, So this is Love, Man Talk Kenya, The Messy in Between and my favourite, Boxpod, are podcasts I recommend with my chest.

I started listening to podcasts because one day I came across an episode of It’s Related I Promise and Kwambox was on it and I have just followed her everywhere since.

I’m a huge Kwambox fan. I could actually just make this whole thing about why you should listen to every Boxpod episode on YouTube and then just for fun, add it as your road trip playlist on Spotify. Even though they aren’t as consistent on Spotify, we forgive them because Collo is faithful on YouTube.

Kwambox is such goals in the way she thinks, frames her ideas, breaks down her thought process and presents to you. She has top-notch humour and her delivery and timing are impeccable. Me, I just love Kwambox. I’m a Stan-level fan of Kwambox.

Eminem was the first white boy I fell in love with, I was 12. He was singing Cleaning Out my Closet, and I was right there with him.

This was supposed to be about make-up and how I’m wearing it. My trips to Ulta are getting more and more exciting. I love finding new products that make my lashes look unreal, I love playing with eye shadow pallets and getting glitter everywhere, I love trying on new lipstick colours and glosses, I love that I can draw my eyebrows now and I know that trick to make them look perfect!

I’m learning so much about myself too because my confidence is boosted. The goal is to be perfect by my birthday. Full fame of glam, by me, dinner at the most exclusive spot where the sugar daddies reside, we know the dress colour, we know the shoe design we want and we know the make-up look we are going to play with.

I’m finding that just like with make-up, you really have to create the realities you want, visualise them and then quite literally speak them into existence as you take actionable steps in the present.

I visualise the look, I speak to myself as I take each step, making sure I’m making the right moves, being open to change tactic to achieve better results and ultimately choosing the best look.
