Boosting self-esteem as a girl involves cultivating a positive self-image, building confidence, and developing a strong sense of self-worth.

However, how do you boost your self-esteem?

Psychologist Hope Vanessa shares some tips.

Identify your strengths

This helps one to boost their confidence. If you are a team player, honest, kind, have leadership qualities, creative, self-control.

They will help someone to view themselves more positively and boost their self-esteem

Practicing gratitude exercises

These are activities that help you see the good things about yourself and the good things that are happening in your life.

For example, gratitude journaling, saying thank you and actively keeping an eye out for reasons to say thank you, taking some time off the TV or your phone and thinking of the good things that are happening, having gratitude conversations with friends or family just pointing out/mentioning the good things that have happened.

This helps to release happy hormones dopamine and serotonin.

Affirming oneself

This is more of reassuring yourself by mentioning the things you have done it could be for the day or even generally how you accomplished a certain thing.

Write down about 'me' I felt good about how I looked today, I am proud of myself because I was able to accomplish/finish a particular task.

Identifying your beliefs

You can be confident in your beliefs and that everyone has different beliefs and they shape who they are as individuals.

Practice Self-compassion

Treat yourself with kindness and understanding, especially during times of difficulty or failure. Replace self-criticism with self-compassion, acknowledging that everyone makes mistakes and faces challenges.

Surround yourself with supportive people

Surround yourself with friends, family members, and mentors who uplift and encourage you. Seek out relationships that are positive, respectful, and affirming of your identity and aspirations.

Practice Self-care

Prioritize your physical, emotional, and mental well-being by engaging in self-care activities that nourish and rejuvenate you. This may include exercise, relaxation techniques, hobbies, or spending time in nature.

Boundaries

Boundaries are key in self-awareness which boosts a person's self-esteem.

So setting boundaries comes when a person has worked on their self-esteem because it could come with a change in response from the areas that one has set boundaries and if you are not assertive and have low self-esteem the boundaries cannot be fully established.

Practice positive visualization

Visualize yourself succeeding and achieving your goals. Imagine yourself confidently navigating different situations and overcoming obstacles, reinforcing a positive self-image.

Remember that boosting self-esteem is a journey that takes time and effort.

Be patient with yourself and embrace the process of personal growth and self-discovery.

By implementing these strategies consistently, you can cultivate a stronger sense of self-worth and confidence as a girl.
