Road and Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen applauded the efforts of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) and the police in enforcing traffic rules.
He emphasized the authorities' commitment to restoring order on the roads.
"Commendable intensified enforcement of traffic rules by NTSA and police is ongoing. We will not relent until we restore sanity on our roads," he said.
Murkomen reiterated the importance of maintaining vigilance to prevent avoidable loss of lives.
He emphasized the need for collective responsibility in upholding traffic regulations to ensure the safety of all road users.
"As we build more good roads, we should all increase our vigilance to prevent avoidable loss of lives," Murkomen said.
NTSA on March 4 began the Usalama Barabarani campaign ahead of the schools reopening after midterm on Monday to educate and empower citizens.
The campaign aimed to reach out to transport operators such as the bodaboda operators, public transport drivers, and pedestrians at large.
The Authority engaged the public in educational exercises of the road safety and traffic rules that both the pedestrians and transport personnel should adhere to such as putting on a seat belt and observing road signs.
NTSA urged transport operators to be mindful of the public's safety by ensuring the buses are not overloaded and following road safety precautions.
The authority engaged the boda boda operators who were termed as the most affected in road carnage cases across the country by educating them on some of the road safety measures.
The Transport CS has continuously emphasized that road accidents can be avoided through adherence to traffic laws.
"It is essential to acknowledge that the majority of road traffic incidents are preventable by following safety regulations and that 90 per cent of accidents result from unsafe road user behaviour."
He also stated that disregard for traffic rules such as overloading was the cardinal cause of road accidents that continue to claim the lives of Kenyan road users.
He called on Kenyans to uphold collective responsibility to ensure that the country doesn’t witness more loss of lives through road accidents.
