Wiper Party vice chairman Victor Ogeto has told Deputy President William Ruto to respect his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Ogeto said that it is wrong for Ruto to compete with his boss. The DP should work closely with the President, he said.
Ogeto said it shows the administration in a bad light when Ruto answers back whenever the President tells him to concentrate on serving people and not politics.
“The Deputy President as the second-in-command should not only respect the President as a person but his office. He should not be answering him in public,” Ogeto said. The Wiper vice chair spoke during a morning show on an Ekegusii radio station.
He said Ruto should always consult the President on development matters before he issues any statement.
Ogeto said that it is unfortunate the DP is criticising the government he is serving.
“Time for the general election will come so it will be prudent for Ruto to work with the President in achieving his Big Four Agenda,” he said.
When the right time comes, Ogeto said, Ruto should go out to seek votes from Kenyans if he wants to ascend to the presidency.
The DP’s office does not belong to any community but all Kenyans. Whatever Ruto does wrong impacts negatively on all citizens, he said.
On Monday, Uhuru in an interview with a local TV station dared Ruto to leave the government if he is dissatisfied with it.
He said Ruto criticises the government with one side of his mouth and takes credit for state projects with the other.
On Gusii politics, Ogeto said that the time has come for the community to speak in one voice like others.
He said that while other communities are engaging in talks ahead of next year’s general elections, leaders from Gusii are busy declaring support for rival candidates.
Ogeto condemned Governor James Ongwae and Senator Sam Ongeri's remarks that the community was fully behind ODM leader Raila Odinga.
He said the community has not appointed them to speak on their behalf over the stand they will take next year.
