Easy recipe: How to make soft baked muffins

Muffins are one of the breakfast dishes or side dishes eaten in a buffet, they are also a quick snack.

They are quick and easy to make at home as they don't need icing like cupcakes.

It only requires proper measurement and mixing of the ingredients for a softer texture. Over-mixing the butter especially can lead to a coarser texture.

Muffins are prepared by whisking dry ingredients and wet ingredients separately. The wet ingredients should always be added to the dry ingredients and mixed well this is known as the muffin method.

Ingredients

Paper muffin liners

2 1/2 cups All-purpose flour

1/2 cup  sugar

tablespoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon  salt

1 1/4 cups milk

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1  egg

teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

1 cup of add -ins(optional)such as chocolate chips, blueberries.

Step 1

Set the oven and pan ready, preheat the oven to 190 degrees Celsius. Use a paper muffin to line a 12-well muffin pan.

However there are different pan sizes, line the papers according to the size of the pan.

Step 2

Combine the dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt- set aside.

Combine the moist ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together milk, oil, egg, and vanilla extract.

Step 3

Mix the wet and dry components: Using a wooden spoon, mix the wet and dry ingredients until they are fully mixed. 

Step 4

Incorporate any add-ins: If your muffins have add-ins, carefully fold in chocolate chips or fruit until evenly distributed. (optional)

Step 5

Place the pan in the centre of the oven for even distribution of heat.  It should take four or five folds.

After filling the pan, add 1/3 cup of butter per muffin. The butter should be divided among the prepared muffins.

Step 6

Bake for about 20 minutes, or until the muffins are golden brown and test with a toothpick to ensure it's fully cooked. The muffin should be soft and intact when tested.
