How to make yummy pancakes

Pancakes are one of the flour made dishes,either for breakfast or certain meal times.

Pancakes are one of the flour-made dishes, either for breakfast or certain meal times.

It can be eaten as an accompaniment or served plain as a single dish.

Pancakes are also very time-efficient especially if you crave chapati and you don't have time to prepare.

Extra toppings make the pancake yummy and savoury from ordinary pancakes such as honey, jam, sweetened whipped cream and chocolate syrup.

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup milk

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted, or vegetable oil

1 egg

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Assorted toppings, butter, maple syrup, honey, jams, sweetened whipped cream, or chocolate syrup

Step 1

Mix dry ingredients: In a small bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt; set aside.

Step 2

Mix wet ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together milk, butter (or oil), and egg.

Step 3

Combine wet and dry ingredients: Add dry ingredients to milk mixture; whisk until just moistened. (Do not over mix).

Step 4

Heat a large frying pan (nonstick or cast-iron) or griddle over medium. Fold a sheet of paper towel in half, and moisten it with oil; carefully rub the frying pan with oiled paper towel.

Step 5

Add butter onto skillet or griddle:For each pancake,you will add 3 tablespoons of butter onto skillet.

Using the back of the spoon spread butter around the skillet and add the flour mixture.Cook first side:Cook until surface of pancakes  turns soft and dry for 1 to 2 minutes.Flip carefully with a thin spatula once the first  side turns brown and cook the second side  until browned on the underside for  2 minutes.(You should be able to fit 2 to 3  pancakes in a large skillet).

Step 6

Transfer to a baking sheet or platter; cover loosely with aluminum foil to keep warm.  (You'll have 12 to 15 pancakes.) Serve warm, with desired toppings.
