Rice is among the popular list of dishes enjoyed by majority of people.

It is so versatile that other ingredients can be added to it, to make it fun to eat and more tasty.

Nonetheless, there are some simple tricks that could determine how well your plain rice will be.

Here's how to make your plain rice come out tastier than ever;

Ingredients

  • Rice
  • Measuring cup
  • Cooking oil/butter
  • Salt(optional)

Preparation

Step 1

Measure the rice and place in a bowl based on the amount that you would like to make.

The cup size will determine how much rice you will have.

Step 2

Wash the rice around three times until the water turns clear.

Step 3

Pour water into a pan.

Put two cups of water for every cup of rice.

This means two cups of rice will require four cups of water.

Step 4

Add some oil into the water and let it boil.

Add salt to taste.

Step 5

Once the water has boiled, add the washed rice.

Add some grated carrots or diced green capsicum for a twist.

Stir with a spoon until evenly distributed in the pan.

Step 6

Let the rice boil until the water reduces.

Step 7

Cover the pan and lower the heat completely.

Step 8

Let the rice dry up for a few minutes then switch off.

Let the lid stay on for the steam to continue to dry it up.

Serve while hot with your favourite meat, vegetable or cereal dish and enjoy.
