Also known as Kiwano, thorn melon, as many Kenyans call it, is an exotic fruit that originates from Central and South of Africa.

You know a Kiwano is ready to eat when the skin is bright golden orange.

Although Kiwano's can be consumed both unripe (green color) and fully ripe.

When unripe, it tastes like a blend of banana, lime, cucumber and watermelon, while the taste of ripe fruit resembles that of a cucumber.

Packed with antioxidants, iron, and vitamin, the smoothie is good for your immune system and is good for managing diabetes, and promoting better eyesight.

Ingredients

  • 1 thorn melon; remove the flesh.
  • ½ of grated ginger
  • 1 Banana
  • 3 tablespoons of honey (Optional)
  • 1 red apple
  • 50g of natural yogurt (Optional)

`Preparation

Step 1

Put all your ingredients in your blender.

Step 2

If you are allergic to dairy, you can use soy, almond or coconut milk.
