The Golden Stool is a sophisticated restaurant with warm, colourful African touches, located on the ground floor at Village Market.

It officially opened its doors in November with the aim of bringing West African meals to Kenyans and expatriates alike.

The decor gives it an elegant, intimate yet fun vibe, with bright Ankara-pattern seats and low-light chandeliers.

Once you set your foot on the premise, you can't help but smile. The restaurant has a homely feel that totally captivates you.

It has a wooden roof with low-light golden industrial lights hanging from it and neon art on one of its walls.

They're minimal on decorations as the furniture speaks volumes.

The staff, who don cute black skater Ankara dresses decorated with bright colours, are very welcoming and helpful, which adds to the beautiful feel of the premise.

The Golden Stool has warm aesthetics. There are cute little wooden seats, some with maroon and others yellow cushions at the front and African prints at the back. The tables are also wooden and lined with Ankara print table cloths and with woven golden-brown mats on top.

The restaurant is quite spacious, ranging from tables for two to tables with four seats and long-cushioned bench/family tables.

It embraces light authentic West African meals from Ghanaian to Senegalese and Nigerian.

"We wanted it to be like fast food but for African meals; no burgers and everyday fries. So we have meals like spiced fried plantains and cassava fries on the go," the owner, Mr Martin, says.

They're looking forward to bringing more home-style traditional meals, such as banku, into their new menu.

One of the most captivating things about the restaurant is that every Friday, they have a live all-female band performing for their clientele.

The restaurant also has a bar area. It has beautifully decorated chandeliers surrounding it, golden bars sectioning the mixologist's area, and a golden rack holding their impressive alcohol collection.

The wooden stand at the bar is lined with industrial lights, giving it an enchanting, glowing look, with light-brown cushioned high stools placed next to it.

They do offer delivery services and takeaway for their meals.

If you've been dreaming of trying out something different from your usual meals, then The Golden Stool is the place to take your taste buds on an adventure.
