RESTAURANT REVIEW

The colourful world of Blue Tang Table

You can bask in its decor, chill in its vibe and enjoy its creative recipes

In Summary

• Blue Tang got its name from founders Edith and Maureen's love for marine life

• The restaurant offers dining services and also does takeouts and outside catering

Blue Tang Table  is located in Silver Pool Suites along Jabavu Lane in Kilimani. They officially opened their doors to the public 10 months ago and have been steadily growing and expanding their menu ever since.

Edith and Maureen started this fast-growing restaurant in the middle of a pandemic that had greatly affected the restaurant industry, but the universe was on their side.

Even though they knew nothing about managing a business, they knew all about good food and creative recipes from their experiences both locally and away. And they knew with their 11 years of friendship, they’d be able to hack working together in a crashing yet competitive industry.

Blue Tang got its name from their shared love for marine life, and just like the little adorable fish, it has a laid-back chilled summer vibe, with a broad menu that has an array of different continental cuisines to offer.

It ranges from American to Indian, African, seafood and contemporary dishes with freshly made special sauces and guacamole to accompany the meals.

They have two different dining areas, each with a different but equally vibrant setting.

On arrival, you are welcomed by a very colourful and chilled seating area. The walls have captivating floral murals depicting urban life and spelling out the name of the restaurant.

The wooden tables have cute glass flower vases, which are lined with artistic white printed paper, adding a rustic vibe to the place. The vases are filled with short stem-dried baby breath flowers.

The back seating area has a semi-open wooden bar with catchy slogans written around it, where the mixologist blends milkshakes, cocktails and mock-tails to one's delight.

It also has a beach vibe setting with yellow and turquoise blue cushioned benches in the middle of high wooden tables with outdoor umbrellas and turfgrass.

One gets to enjoy their meal while enjoying the warmth of the sun and a cool breeze without having to worry about being scorched by the sun or nature interrupting or ruining your meal.

The environment is really serene, although the first seating area might bother some as it borders the suite's car park as well.

The restaurant not only offers dining services but also does takeouts that you can order online, deliveries and outside catering as well.

To top it off, their meals are equally affordable.
