Why Urban Eatery is a foodie’s paradise

The decor, lighting and ambience make you never want to leave the facility

In Summary

• The eatery offers customers a dive into culinary experiences from around the world

• It wows with its glamour and views and matches the pace of Nairobi’s urban lifestyle

The Urban Eatery is a contemporary, serene restaurant at the heart of Nairobi that houses four different kitchens and a signature state-of-the-art bar. Located on the ground floor of PwC Towers on Chiromo Road, Westlands, it offers its customers a dive into different culinary experiences from around the world.

From the minute you walk into the premises, you are totally drawn in. The mix of corporate glamour, planters and rustic art marry each other divinely. That plus their luscious green outdoor patio is a blend of an aesthetically appealing space.

The premise is easily accessible as it is right on the road. Surprisingly enough, despite its proximity to the road, the inside is not noisy at all. Their thick glass walls block out the hustle and bustle of Westlands, while still letting you enjoy the view.

The lavish restaurant aims to redefine your dining experience with its culinary expertise from the various kitchens.

The Kitchen by Sarova offers multi-occasion dining with meals influenced by Western, African and Indian culture. ChiSo focuses on pan-Asian cuisines. It also incorporates an aspect of the holistic culture, appealing to the five senses.

Chop is a freestyle kitchen, offering modern comfort food and grills. Barista & Co specialises in coffee roasters and accompaniments. Their coffee is hand-roasted to highlight the taste notes and smell of their origin.

And lastly, there is Circles bar, which is headed by Angeliqua Rivera world-class Bartender of the Year 2019. Their drinks menu caters to all your palette's desires, bringing you the very best there is to offer.

Circles, true to its name, has a striking interior design, with layers of circular metallic rings from the ceiling that house well-arranged bottles of alcohol and, on the last ring, wine glasses suspended upside-down in a semi-circle.

The decor, lighting and ambience make you want to never leave the facility. There’s smooth contemporary music playing from their speakers, which aren’t too loud that your conversations will be a struggle.

Urban Eatery is quite spacious, with a selection of indoor seating areas. My favourite is the corner seating, which is kind of sealed off from the rest of the restaurant. It overlooks the busy Westlands Road. It has big, wooden walls with smooth finishes that make for fantastic backdrops for pictures. Amazing high, woven seats that look as if you’re floating on a flower. And cushioned seats with circular wooden tables. It’s fenced off with thick glass windows that let you enjoy the vegetation and liveliness of the city.

It has an open kitchen, which also has a high dining area that lets you watch as your meals are prepared. That lets you know how hygienic the place is.

The outdoor patio lets you enjoy a breath of fresh air as you dine while soaking in the sun. The array of plants outside enhances the serenity of the place. It also has gazebo umbrellas to protect the diners from rain.

The service is very friendly and fast, which is a bonus to the restaurant. The floor “captain” Samuel is warm, receptive and very helpful when it comes to choosing meals. And the manager, Mr Benu, is always around, interacting and ensuring that diners are pleased with their meals.

Urban Eatery understands the energised, modern social space that matches the pace of Nairobi’s urban lifestyle. And it has crafted itself to meet and go above this demand.
