Shaq the Yungin announces exit from NRG Radio after six years

Radio presenter Shaquille O'Neill Oduk popularly known as Shaq the Yungin has announced his exit from NRG Radio after six years.

In a statement on Tuesday, Shaq said despite his resignation from the media house, he was grateful for the opportunity given to him by the management.

"After six years of working at NRG Radio, I hereby announce my resignation from the company. I bid farewell to my colleagues, management and most importantly to the fans that have tuned in every day for the last six years while I was on air," he said.

Shaq noted that as he looks forward to the next step in his career, he is hoping and praying for new opportunities that will come his way.

He further asked for the support of his fans.

"Thank you again to all the listeners and clients who have trusted and believed in me over the years," he said.

The radio presenter shared the news with his fans on Instagram terming it as new vibes.

"Hardest choice that I’ve been thinking of making for a minute but yeah, I’m gonna miss you all on this side! God bless all who were part of the journey," Shaq said in a caption.

He added that when you have a shark in a fish bowl, it is going to break it one day.

"I thought I knew what my caption was gonna be but I’m trying to say less. Cheers to a good six years we outside, on to the next one," he captioned.

Shaq, however, did not announce his next move saying, "Don’t guess where I’m going, I am the only one that knows! See you in a bit, WE OUTSIDE."

His exit from the media company comes after the Radio DJ  Xclusive and host Mwalimu Rachel also parted ways with NRG Radio after six years.

Both the renowned DJ and Mwalimu Rachel joined Radio Africa Group.

The announcement was made on March 27, 2024, by Radio Africa Group Chief Operating Officer, Martin Khafafa.

While welcoming Mwalimu Rachel to RAG, Khafafa said; "We are excited at the opportunity we are going to give her to join Radio Africa Group which is the home of the country's best radio talent."
