Former Roots Party presidential candidate George Wajackoyah met Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in Nyandarua County, during the funeral of Priesthood Church Bishop JJ Gitahi's mother.

Wajackoyah after shaking Gachagua's hand, said being his first time he thought he would slap him.

“My friendship with the Deputy President has begun today, this is the first I have shaken the hand of this man and I thought he will slap me,” he said.

He added that politics are extended outwards, inviting the Deputy President for a cup of tea to Mumias.

“I’m extending an olive branch to you my brother that politics is extended outwards, but in Kenya we are ok. I’m inviting you to come to Mumias and have a cup of tea with the Wanga people, following who I am today.”

Gachagua while responding to Wajackoyah, said "I'm not a bad person, and you are also not a bad man. I only feared you because of how you used to speak about bhang and you know how we have a problem with bhang. I will call you to tell me the good kind of bhang you were talking about."

Gachagua said he was only concerned about Wajackoyah advocating for bhang which according to him, when youth consume it, it affects them

"I’m not very intelligent, I haven’t learnt a lot so you will have to explain to me to understand,” Gachagua said.

When Wajackoyah was doing his campaigns in 2022, he urged Kenyans to embrace marijuana farming because they stood to gain in terms of employment and revenues.

One of Wajackoyah's main campaign promises was the legalisation of the farming and production of marijuana for industrial and medical use, to help solve unemployment and national debt.
