Big African names miss out on Grammy Awards

In a surprising turn of events, the big Nigerian stars did not win any of the awards nominated.

It was a sad night for the Nigerian Music industry after all their Grammy nominees missed out on the award.

They had some of their big superstars, Davido, Burna Boy, Olamide, Asake and Ayra Starr nominated for the 2024 Grammy Awards.

2021 Grammy Award winner Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy had received four nominations.

He had been nominated for Best Melodic Rap Performance 'Sitting on Top of the World' with 21 Savage, Best Global Music Performance 'Alone', Best African Music Performance 'City Boys' and Best Global Music Album 'I Told Them'.

Burna Boy lost the Best African Music category to Tyla's 'Water', Best Global Music Performance to 'Pashto' by Béla Fleck, Edgar Meyer and Zakir Hussain Featuring Rakesh Chaurasia, Best Global Album to Shakti's 'The Moment'and Best Melodic Rap Performance to Lil Durk's 'All My Life' feat J Cole.

David Adeleke popularly known as Davido missed out on all his three nominations.

He was nominated for Best Global Album for his latest album 'Timeless', Best African Performance 'Unavailable' and Best Global Music Performance 'Feel'.

He lost the Best Global Music Performance to 'Pashto' by Béla Fleck, Edgar Meyer and Zakir Hussain Featuring Rakesh Chaurasiaa and Best Global Album to Shakti’s 'The Moment'.

Both Ahmed Ololade popularly known as Asake and Olamide Adedeji known as Olamidehad their Amapiano missing out on the award too.

Amapiano by Asake and Olamide had been nominated for the Best African Music Performance category.

Ayra Starr’s Rush was also not able to win despite her nomination for the inaugural Best Music Performance category.
