CNN correspondent Larry Madowo posses for a photo with Kenya Navy soldiers on Mount Kenya.

It was a moment of pure bliss when Kenya Navy soldiers met media personality Larry Madowo during a hike on Mt Kenya.

Madowo unexpectedly ran into the soldiers who were also engaged on a mission to conquer the heights of Mt Kenya.

"Bumped into young Kenya Navy officers casually running up and down Mt Kenya, making the rest of us look bad. This is 4,985 metres above sea level, so exactly 4,985m away from their workstation on the water What are they doing here?" The CNN correspondent posted on his social media handle.

The soldiers were so happy to see Madowo and they could be seen posing for photos with him.

None of them wanted to be left out and others even took out their phones just to make sure the moment was captured.

At one point the soldiers could be heard saying, "We are proud of your work. We are proud of this guy, you are our icon."

As usual, Madowo was wearing his wide smile just to show how much he was also enjoying the photo session.

Madowo landed his role at CNN where he hosts the 'African Voices Changemakers' that focuses mainly on newsmakers across the continent.

Since joining the International network in 2021, he has covered a wide range of news stories around the globe, including flooding in Nigeria, and coronavirus vaccine inequality and covered the August 2022 polls.

The media personality said the opportunity is surreal as he was first featured on the show in 2017 speaking about his work as a Kenyan journalist.

"Some personal professional news: my role at CNN is expanding. I’m the new host of African Voices Changemakers. I was featured on the show in 2017 so it’s surreal to be taking over Tell me your stories," he tweeted.

Madowo also worked at BBC after leaving NTV in 2018 when he took the post of Business Editor for Africa.
