Oscar award winner Lupita Nyong'o has tested positive for Covid-19.

In an announcement on Tuesday, the actress said that she had tested for the virus, despite being fully vaccinated. 

Lupita said she is currently in isolation and hopes to get well soon, as she called on her fans to do all they can to protect themselves and other people.

"I too have tested positive for Covid-19. I'm fully vaccinated and taking care in isolation, so I trust I will be well," she tweeted.

"Please do all you can to keep yourself and others protected from serious illness. #StayMaskedAndVaxxed."

Due to the virus, the Hollywood actress has been forced to cancel a virtual promotional interview for a new film -The 355, to focus on her recovery.

Lupita stars alongside Jessica Chastain, Penelope Cruz, Diane Kruger, and Bingbing Fan among others in the thriller set for release on Friday.
