There are different types of lentils such as red lentils, brown lentils and even green lentils.
Red lentils are preferred as they are the sweetest.
Lentils are a sweet dish if well prepared.
Lentils are one of the quickest legume dishes to prepare, it doesn't require soaking and boiling takes 15-30 minutes.
Preparation
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of Lentils
- Tomatoes
- Tomato paste
- 1 onion
- 1 clove of garlic
- Paprika
- Garam Masala
- 1 coriander
Step 1
Add 2 cups of lentils and 5 cups of water.
Boil your lentils for 15 minutes. Boiling time depends on the type of lentils, brown lentils tend to take longer.
Step 2
Heat a sufuria at medium-high level and add cooking oil to the sufuria.
Fry onions till brown then add the garlic.
Add tomatoes and fry while seasoning with spices, 2 tablespoons of paprika and garam masala each.
Step 3
Add the lentils to the soup then add tomato paste to create a thick soup. Garnish with coriander.
Step 4
Serve with either rice or chapati.
