President William Ruto is set to launch an affordable housing program in Kericho County next month.
Chairman of Urban Planning and Public Works in the National Assembly and Emurrwa Dikir MP Johana Ngeno has disclosed.
Ngeno said President Ruto's commitment to creating jobs for unemployed youth through the housing program is here to stay.
The outspoken legislator reminded the critics of the housing program to hold their horses since the head of the state has goodwill for Kenyans.
He said the housing program is targeting some 5,000 houses in each of the 47 counties.
The program, Ngeno said is also going to open doors for tenant-owned houses where the beneficiaries will be required to pay Sh10,000 a month until such time they will accumulate an amount equivalent to the cost of the house.
Ngeno spoke at Kericho Primary School during the Kipsigis Professional Forum.
None of the elected leaders attended the forum despite having been invited.
The forum was organized by interim chairman Benard Yegon.
Former MPs Magerer Langat (Kipkelion West) and Dr Julius Kones (Konoin in Bomet County) attended the forum.
The non-political forum is aimed at enlightening the Kipsigis community locally and internationally matters of economy and education.
Ngeno said the professionals have the role of enlightening their community on matters of leading them towards their economic well-being.
