IVF involves combining eggs and sperm outside the body in a laboratory. Once an embryo or embryos form, they are placed in the uterus.

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a fertility treatment where sperms are placed directly into a woman’s uterus.

IUI is a relatively noninvasive and less-expensive fertility treatment compared to IVF .

In some cases, couples may begin with IUI before progressing to IVF if needed. IUI may be the only treatment needed to achieve pregnancy.
