•Mochenwa, 24, will battle it out with former senator Mong’are Okong’o, incumbent senator Okong’o Omogeni and American based businessman Alvin Machoka.

•The lands survey engineer will vie on the Democratic Party of Kenya ticket.

Nyamira senator aspirant Adams Mochenwa has blamed poor oversight of resources for underdevelopment, hence a need to change leadership.

He said there is a need to elect leaders who had people's interests at heart because the allocation of funds was not the issue.

The aspirant spoke during a phone interview on Sunday.

“According to the number of projects, we have done less in development. We cannot attribute it to poor leadership alone but the county assembly and the senate have failed in executing their roles,” he said.

Mochenwa, 24, will battle it out with former senator Mong’are Okong’o, incumbent senator Okong’o Omogeni and American based businessman Alvin Machoka.

The lands survey engineer will vie on the Democratic Party of Kenya ticket.

The politician has been moving across the county trying to entice people to vote for him.

He will prioritise health, agriculture, education, youth, women empowerment and general oversight which he says has not been done to the satisfaction of Nyamira residents.

“We are not saying oversight has not been done, but we have various projects that have not been completed since devolution. We need serious leaders who will question why the projects are incomplete yet funds are allocated every financial year,” he said.

He outlined various projects that have not been completed including Manga Stadium, Nyamaiya stadium and county headquarters among others, even after receiving money from the national government.

He urged the residents of Nyamira to elect leaders who will ensure the resources are used well.
