A man was on Tuesday charged with posing as a white woman and defrauding a businessman in a fake car deal.

He is said to have been posing as a white woman by the name of Ryan Britney to defraud unsuspecting Kenyans.

Bob Caleb Nyongesa allegedly obtained Sh150, 000 from Mwangi Ali after convincing him that he could buy his Mercedes Benz car which the complainant had advertised online.

Nyongesa had a conversation with the complainant and he told him that he was traveling from Narok to Nairobi to see the vehicle.

The accused person then told the complainant that while on his way to Nairobi he hit a herd of cattle and asked him to send him some money to save him from being lynched.

The court heard that Nyongesa promised to refund the money.

But the police report says that the accused person stopped communicating with the complainant after receiving the money.

Nyongesa was arrested and arraigned in court by the DCI after the report was made to the police.

According to the DCI, the accused person expressed willingness to buy the motor vehicle at Sh1.4 million from Ali.

He asked for more pictures of the vehicle posted on the online platform, before traveling to Nairobi where they would seal the deal.

The prosecution told the court to consider that Nyongesa is a convicted fraudster and several people came out to lodge complaints against him after he was arrested.

He was initially convicted by a Kakamega court in a Sh250,000 fake gold businesses.

Nyongesa three years ago obtained money from businessman Mohammed Abdallah Osman by falsely claiming he could sell him gold.

Nyongesa denied the charges before Kibera senior principal magistrate Esther Boke.

He was released on a surety bond of Sh300, 000 and an alternative cash bail of Sh200, 000.

Boke directed that the case will be mentioned on April 23.
