It was murder most foul.

Residents of Karagita estate in Naivasha are trying to come to terms with an incident where a man killed his wife by slitting open her stomach on Sunday after a domestic row.

The flower farmworker attacked his estranged wife outside a house she had relocated to. She died at Naivasha Subcounty Hospital.

The man was arrested hours later as he tried to flee from the estate that is home to hundreds of flower farmworkers.

According to Elias King’ori, a village elder, the couple was married for over a year but separated last month over the man’s drinking habit.

King'ori said the woman left their matrimonial home and rented a house nearby.

“The man came to the house pretending he wanted to talk to her, only to whip out a knife and slash her in the stomach, leaving her intestines hanging out,” he said.

Naivasha police boss Samuel Waweru said the suspect was in their custody and would be charged with murder.

“We had an unfortunate incident where a man attacked his wife, slashing her stomach and she died while undergoing treatment,” he said.

Meanwhile, an epileptic man died in Kosovo of the Eburru area after he collapsed on top of the charcoal he was preparing.

The 42-year-old man was alone when he developed the seizure and fell on the charcoal he was burning in the village near the Nakuru-Narok border.

“The man was epileptic and while he was burning charcoal he fell on the fire and was badly burnt leading to his death,” Waweru said.
