West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin has warned county workers against engaging in corruption and failing to perform their responsibilities.

Kachapin said that Kenyans are being taxed heavily to fund their salaries and they have no reason to not deliver quality services to them.

“My government will not condone corruption. Anybody found will be dismissed. Funds allocated to any project should [be used for] the intended work since I have seen many things going wrong previously,” he said.

The governor has asked MPs and the county assembly to do proper oversight, adding that he has an interest in health sector since it's the spirit of devolution.

“Those who have been given a chance to work in my government should be ready to deliver, nobody will earn a salary without delivering to Kenyans. The previous administration had many ghost workers who were drawing salary without working,” he said.

Governor Kachapin warned non-performing civil servants that his administration is not ready to keep on paying salaries for individuals who are not ready to work.

“Employees who are worth their name should be ready to help the county government generate sufficient revenue for paying their salaries," he said.
