It's high time the international community takes immediate action to stop Israel’s forced evictions and displacement of Palestinians in East Jerusalem.

For decades, the Israeli regime has been using force and brutality against the Palestinians and even has occupied the lands of the Palestinian people but international bodies, and above all the United Nations, have remained passive and sometimes indifferent to these atrocities.

And when the UN has tried to take action, world powers have vetoed it and this cycle of crimes against Palestinians has continued to date.

With major human rights bodies such as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International finding Israel to be imposing apartheid, a crime akin to a crime against humanity on the Palestinians to date, there doesn't appear to be any movement in a practical sense to hold Israel to account.

We haven't heard much about the ICC's preliminary investigation into the 2014 Israeli offensive against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the spread of Israeli settlements and, more recently, the killing and wounding of Palestinian demonstrators near the nominal border fence in Gaza, occupied Jerusalem and the West Bank.

Where are the investigators looking into the violations of human rights, and possible war crimes and crimes against humanity?

Not that the Israeli regime has ever cared for UN resolutions, binding or non-binding. It treats Security Council resolutions with disdain.

Since 1967, the Security Council has adopted 77 resolutions critical of Israel but that has not cramped Israel’s style.

After each resolution—that is the ones that escaped US veto (81 resolutions have been vetoed by the US so far)—the regime has treated them with contempt. No other country would be able to get away with such brazen conduct.

The Palestinians have tried to show the world the true nature of the Zionists through international bodies like the UN but no serious and conclusive action has been taken against Israel.

You know why? Because the UN is fully under the control of the big powers and what they dictate the body should follow and when the body decides to take action, one of the five powers vetoes it.

It is really a shame that the international body knows what is going on in Palestine but still remains quiet, indifferent and passive.
