HIV infection has become the greatest health crisis in human history.
It continues to spread unchecked in the country where youths are the most affected.
With only a few youths aware of their HIV/AIDs health status, many of them have been engaging in unprotected sex, yet they are unaware of their partner's well-being.
There are more people getting affected due to ignorance about using condoms, which are supplied in universities and colleges.
Recent research done by different health experts has shown this worrying trend of new HIV/AIDs infections among youths.
Eventhough the number of those with HIV/AIDs has been reducing, there is still more to be done for the safety of those who are not affected so far.
In order to combat this condition, experts have rolled out some strategies to prevent new infections.
One can use strategies such as abstinence (not having sex), never sharing needles, and using condoms the right way every time you have sex.
You may also be able to take advantage of HIV prevention medicines such as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP).
Amongst those strategies, the best one can only be abstinence something that many youths may not find possible, therefore, they rely on condoms.
It is very fortunate that the government has always ensured that these condoms are made available in government hospitals. Private hospitals have this program for free.
Even though they are made available, not all youths are interested in using them something that has fueled the spread of not only HIV/AIDs but other sexually transmitted diseases.
It is high time youths should understand and know that their health status is more important than that few minutes of sexual pleasure.
Condoms are available in institutions and they should be used to avoid the spread of the disease.
