•For some years now youth employment has been a big nightmare.

Jobless graduates question their degrees.

Kenya is one of the countries where youths are dominant, with a population of nearly 10 million.

Being large in population they face a lot of challenges that remain a black spot in Kenya today.

The challenges are getting worse as days go by.

The majority of the voting population are the youths and their participation in the August election will be crucial.

This is a perfect show that indeed youths are important but the challenges they face have not been solved.

For some years now youth employment has been a big nightmare.

More than a third of Kenya's youth eligible for work have no jobs but the government has not done enough to tackle the country's acute unemployment problem.

The rate at which most youths are unemployed in Kenya is alarming.

The lack of jobs has lured them into prostitution, drug abuse, robbery and even terrorism.

This is especially because their access to gainful employment and income opportunities is hindered by corruption, the lack of capital, information and relevant skills.

Studies have shown that most of the leaders in Kenya are only young, but they have not addressed youth challenges most unemployment.

Instead, they are waiting to come and ask for votes.

Research conducted shows most MCAs are youths but they have not helped their peers.

The next government should address the issue of unemployment among other challenges.

Kenya must invest in the development of its human capital through policies and actions that expand the education and relevant skills and development opportunities that are affordable to the youths.

The provision of an economic environment and the creation of adequate numbers of so-called decent jobs that will be set aside for youths should be free of discrimination and corruption.

As we approach the August election, youths should stay woke and choose leaders who will help solve the challenges they go through.

There is also a need for the youth to speak up through organisations and ensure their voice is heard from the county to the national government.

Most importantly better engagement for the youth to be part of tackling these challenges is the best solution.

Above all Sustainable Development Goals cannot be achieved by 2030 if youth challenges are not addressed.
