Due to the present economic situation in Kenya, there is an urgent need for a strong political system and a government that will restore the economy.

The economy was not only worsened by the Covid-19 pandemic but also by unfavourable government policies.

The incoming government in 2022 will have a big task ahead to relieve Kenyans from the economic burden.

Clean water, food, decent housing, improving standards of living and importantly the creation of job opportunities in response to curb unemployment, should be key.

Without basic needs, the realization of human potential is impossible, hence a majority of citizens will continue to live in helplessness.

The most affected group will be youths who are struggling with unemployment and their dreams and ambitions.

Most youths are likely to join terrorism, crime or even engage in immorality in an attempt of dealing with their situation.

The sole way government can solve this is through a strong political and government system which will favour thriving of the economy that will lead to abundance in employment opportunities, high standards of living, reduction of poverty and reduced dependency on foreign aids.

Government should focus on ending corruption, which has been a major hindrance to economic growth and development.

Whatever political party will ascend to power, should focus on the main economic goals which are control of inflation, reduction of unemployment, promotion of economic growth and attainment of a favourable balance of payment.

In these hard times when politics have taken shape towards the general election, the present and incoming government must be strong enough to favour a strong economy, which will lead to sustainable development.
