Social media sites

Today, interaction among individuals has been made easier and faster through the use of social media platforms.

These platforms depend on new communication technologies like mobile phones, desktop computers and other web-based networks to create, share, exchange information and ideas.

Social media gives every individual opportunity to reach, nature and even engage with their target audience no matter their location.

In the academic sector, social media has impacted students and teachers.

It has enabled them to carry out their research, complete classwork and during this Covid pandemic, several institutions have turned to online classes.

However, social media is also a double-edged sword because, despite the positive effects, there are negative ones too.

In most households, it has widened the gap and reduced closeness in families, it has led to destructions among students such that they cannot concentrate in class and especially those in universities.

Other negative effects are laziness, reduced face-to-face communication and conveys an inauthentic expression of feelings.

To crown it all, let us handle social media carefully least we become addicted or victims of its negative impacts.
