The upshot of criminal gangs in Mombasa North should be nipped in the bud. The upsurge of criminal gangs in Bamburi, Kisauni and surrounding areas is worrying. Police should beef up security around the clock.

Parents and grandparents are also partly to blame. They should abstain from giving their children and grandchildren keys to their cars, which are often used as weapons or as escape machines after a crime.

Any suspicious car or motorbikes fully loaded with juvenile youths should be stopped and checked for any weapon.
