President William Ruto makes his inaugural address to lawmakers and to the entire nation today.

The nation will be in a state of high expectation, taking into consideration the speech comes at a time a majority are facing very tough economic situations.

The President was elected on the platform of dealing effectively with the cost of living headache that bedeviled retired President Uhuru Kenyatta's reign in the past one year.

At the heart of the cost of living nightmare is the high cost of food and fuel.

Ruto will no doubt focus on the solutions that are urgently needed to get the cost of living down to a level millions of households can manage.

One of his key promises is to actualise the Sh50 billion Hustler Fund to provide affordable loans to small and medium size businesses that can hardly afford to borrow from banks.

Ruto will be aware that implementing loan programmes comes with challenges.

Kenyatta’s administration failed to get Uwezo and Youth Fund and Women Enterprise Fund off the ground because the teams mandated to drive the programmes are hobbled by corruption.

Kenyans also hope he will outline some of the taxes he needs to reduce to help Kenyans make ends meet, spur growth and create jobs.

He must persuade all MPs to create the necessary legal provisions so long-suffering Kenyans can start to see the promises he made.
