Chakol Queens are not settled despite gaining promotion to the 2024/25 National Women's Super League (NLS).
Head coach Antony Wekesa said lack of finances remains an impediment to their ambition to punch above their weight.
" We can't sign new players at the moment hence we are not sure of what lies ahead unless we get a sponsor," he added.
Like their counterparts, Wekesa said they would love to plunge into the transfer market and spur Chakol Queens to NSL stardom.
“If we had funding or a sponsor, we would be able to sign key players to help our team on the higher side of the league,” Wekesa said.
“We are unable even to hire a qualified coach who can spur the girls to the next level,” he added.
Wekesa said their appeal to the Busia County Government for financial support has fallen on deaf ears as they believe the school funds them.
“Most of the people believe Chakol Girls' High School support the team but the truth is that girls are struggling as a team,” Wekesa revealed.
The team has already started looking for players to strengthen their squad for the coming season. They conducted trials over the weekend and will soon release the names of their recruits.
Wekesa said they are looking for players who are ready to serve without expecting much.
