As Christmas day approaches, Kenyans are hitting the roads to travel to different parts of the country to celebrate with their loved ones.

However, many have noticed a significant increase in fares, leading to concerns about the affordability of holiday travel.

According to a recent survey, the average cost of a one-way ticket on a long-distance bus has increased by more than 20 per cent in the past week.

This has caused frustration and disappointment among travellers, who are already struggling with the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The high cost of travel is not just limited to buses. Many Kenyans who prefer to travel by train or plane are also facing higher prices, with some airlines raising their fares.

The Kenya Private Sector Alliance, a business advocacy group, wants the government to intervene and regulate the transportation industry to ensure that prices are reasonable and fair for consumers.

Despite the challenges, many Kenyans remain determined to be with their loved ones on Christmas day.
