Kenyans converged at the CBD in Nairobi to demonstrate against the high cost of living.

It is now 25 days to the August election and the high cost of living might hurt the turnout of voters.

Some Kenyans do not have a reason to vote since the politicians have not solved issues on the cost of living.

Last week, Kenyans converged in Nairobi Central Business District to protest over the rising cost of living.

The placard-waving protesters called on the government to lower food and basic commodities.

It is therefore the responsibility of the government, food security agencies, human rights activists and other concerned stakeholders to intervene and address this situation.

Politicians especially the presidential candidates have been moving from one county to another asking Kenyans to vote for them but how can you convince a voter to do that on an empty stomach?

Many families who used to take three meals per day now are even taking one meal per day or none at all.

The current price of maize flour is quite high and even the rich are now complaining about the high cost of commodities.

The affected Kenyans should receive donations of basic commodities, especially in the Northern parts of Kenya.

Recently the government reduced maize flour by Sh2 but this was not received well by Kenyans since the reduction was not enough, it was still unaffordable to many.

If no solution is realized now, it will affect the general election.

However, if it is solved, Kenyans will get motivated and turn out in large numbers to vote for the next government.
