It is disturbing that child hunger and malnutrition are on the rise.
Families are struggling to provide for their children with enough nutritious food but unfortunately, their efforts are not bearing any fruits.
According to World Health Organization and Save Children Organization, an estimated 5.7 million children under the age of five years are on the brink of starvation across the globe.
The research suggests that the world is facing the biggest hunger crisis of the 21st century.
Among the affected countries is Kenya. This is evident from the recent hike in the price of basic commodities.
This has forced families to resort to even one meal a day and for children, this is not enough.
When children who are vulnerable to hunger find themselves in such a situation, their development is lowered and they cannot grow as expected.
It should be understood that there is no vaccine for hunger, but there is a solution if we act.
Children are the future, so we should look for a suitable and lasting solution to save them from hunger and malnutrition.
Kenyans have recently complained about the issue of basic commodities.
This has unfortunately not been addressed adequately hence making more families find other means of surviving.
It's a call to the government and other concerned stakeholders to tackle the recent harsh economy.
Currently, children have closed schools for their short holidays, and most families will not even afford to feed them.
Therefore, this is a call to the governemnt to act.
As global action, to truly put an end to the global hunger and malnutrition crisis, the international community must address the root cause of food and nutrition insecurity.
Let's all cooperate and save children from massive malnutrition and hunger to prevent the death of children by starvation.
All Sustainable Development Goals cannot be achieved if we will not curb hunger and malnutrition in Kenya.
