It's disturbing to still record a rise in insecurity cases in Nakuru, especially in the informal settlements.
This is not the first time the county is experiencing insecurity.
According to reports, there have been three mysterious murders involving women which have been reported for two weeks in Mawanga.
The recent gangs who are terrorising the city outskirts are mostly targeting women.
An alleged criminal gang in Nakuru called 'Confirm' is the most common, which is giving residents sleepless nights followed by others mostly operating in Bondeni, Kiumbini, Kaptembwa, Flamingo, Kwa Rhonda and Mawanga.
Crime is a challenge and potential impairment to the county or even the national development and therefore it's an awakening call for all authorities to probe and establish the root cause of the recent rise in insecurity.
The gangs are not operating at night but their moves are opposite of what we expect, most of the attacks happen during the day.
They are vicious sometimes acting under the influence of strong hallucinatory drugs.
It is high time the security agencies act and protects Nakuru residents.
Gang violence is a serious matter that should be dealt with urgently and there is no excuse for that.
There have been allegations that some of the gangs are being financed by politicians who act as their godfathers.
However, police should be vigilant in addressing the situation and the gangs warned against being used by politicians to cover up crimes.
A lasting solution should be found and security should be prioritised in the entire country.
