Even after the Speaker of National Assembly Justin Muturi warned House committees against meeting witnesses, especially Cabinet Secretaries, in the absence of parliamentary staff, it seems some committee chairpersons are not taking note. Early this month, a committee chairperson ordered the secretariat and journalists out of a committee room before locking themselves with a CS who has been engaged in politics. Interestingly, the committee chairperson even sent out the Chief Administrative Secretary who was accompanying the boss for the session. As to what was the centre of the closed door talks, Corridors can only speculate.

A Governor from Western Kenya is a distressed man.  This is after he got wind of reports that two of his siblings, whom he does not see eye-to-eye with, have decided to support his main rival in the August 9 polls. The two younger brothers of the governor are said to be fed up with what they see as his "uncaring behaviour". One of the kin of the county boss, who is a contractor, complains that since his brother ascended to the throne, he lost business and some of the tenders he was doing. Efforts to speak to him have borne no fruit.  It's understood that plans are at an advanced stage for the disgruntled relative of the governor to be received by his rival at a public rally. Word has it that the county boss is contemplating convening a family meeting to ensure the domestic row doesn't get to the public domain.

A second term popular MCA from one of the cosmopolitan county assemblies who is seeking reelection on a Jubilee ticket is mad at his supporters who he claimed went out leaking information on how he has neglected his wife. Corridors is informed that the MCA has been cheating on his spouse to the extent of even taking some of his girlfriends to their matrimonial home when the wife is away. During the recent Jubilee grassroots meeting in the area, Mheshimiwa was embarrassed after two of his girlfriends turned up and demanded attention from him. Sensing he was set up for embarrassing drama, the politico left on a motorbike despite the fact that he had been assigned a critical role in the important party function.

After a resolution last week that a dominant party will use a scientific method to arrive at candidates for various seats in the August polls, a number of aspirants from the party's stronghold are silently arming themselves with tickets from friendly coalition parties claiming the opinion poll is meant to favour the incumbents. Corridors has learnt that the fringe parties under the umbrella coalition are making a killing given the number of hopefuls knocking at their offices daily for the all important document.
