Content creator Khoja Local plans to educate his audience through entertainment this year.

The fast-rising entertainer is known for depicting different characters, like Prenda Krez, Pramwel Chamin, Akines and Mzee Chamin.

Speaking to Word Is, he said, "My team and I are planning to do something different. I have been doing entertainment and I plan to educate people through that, like things to do with gender-based violence. This year, we want to curb IT GBV through entertainment."

The 23-year-old started creating content in 2019. "I used to do stand up comedy in high school and when I was done, I stayed for two years and recorded a clip, put it on social media, it went viral and that's when I started," he said.

"I Googled how to become the best comedian in Kenya, Google told me I had to know an accent, it could be anything. So I tried many accents but I settled on the Luhya accent."

Local is also set to urbanise his content as it is mostly based on rural areas. "I shoot most of my content in the rural area. I live in Bungoma and I have a lot of space to work in. But I am trying to urbanise it and the originality will still be there."

His family was okay with the comedian crossdressing. "My mother had no problem with it, she was okay. She understands it's acting. I looked for an elderly woman who can act the part of a mother and it was difficult to get one. I created these characters by myself, it is not inspired by a personal experience or anyone from my family."

He said it is not a must for a man to cross-dress to be funny, but it becomes hard to get someone who can execute the role you want.

The comedian is a father of one. "As young father, it was challenging at first, but I had to hustle hard for the child to get fed."

Adding, "I am in a relationship. She stood with me when I had nothing and she deserves nothing but the best. When I love, I love hard."

His most challenging video was when he imitated fellow comedian Eric Omondi. "I looked at the views and I was heartbroken, but I have mastered the art of imitating his voice."

Khoja's hardest life moment was when he lost his father. "I was hurt. My classwork went down. He was supportive and would guide me, he was my pillar of strength."

He concluded by thanking his fans and asked them to continue supporting his art.
