Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has insisted that there is still much to do, even as he marks 40 years in politics.
Speaking on Wednesday, Kalonzo referenced the remarks of activist Martin Luther King Jr, saying that there is no time to waste in life.
He went on to state that if anything, it is always time for people to take positive action.
“Ladies and gentlemen, there is still much to do. “We are now faced with the fact that tomorrow is today,” Martin Luther King Jr reminded us six decades ago. Dr King’s seminal words mean even more as we confront “the fierce urgency of now” that is unfolding here in Kenya,” Kalonzo said on X.
“In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there is such a thing as being too late. This is no time for apathy or complacency. This is a time for vigorous and positive action.” Thank you, and God Bless Kenya."
He noted that it has been an honour serving the people of Kenya and the African continent over the last 40 years.
The former VP said that 20 of the 40 years he has also doubled up as a diplomat.
Kalonzo added that he will always be grateful to have served for 28 years as Member of Parliament of Kitui North and Mwingi North, as Minister in five substantial dockets, as an Assistant Minister, as the youngest Deputy Speaker of Parliament and later on as the 10th Vice President of the Republic of Kenya from 2008 to 2013.
“As I reflect on the 20 years of diplomacy and 40 years of political discourse, I realise now more than ever what an absolute honour it has been to serve the people of Kenya and Africa. Indeed, my entire working career has been spent in service to the public, be it as a lawyer, mediator, MP, minister and vice president.”
Kalonzo celebrated his years in public service on Wednesday evening with a cocktail event attended by, among others, family, friends and politicians from the Opposition parties.
