  • CS Mutua said agencies are unable to contact 72 applicants to notify them for the signing of their offer letters.
  • "Please come to KICC on Monday to sign your offer letter and to be processed for traveling," Mutua said.

Labour CS Dr Alfred Mutua at the Nyandarua National Polytechnic during job recruitment, November 27, 2024.

The government has released a list of names of 72 Kenyans who applied for jobs in Qatar under the National Job Recruitment Programme but failed to provide contact details.

Labour and Social Protection Cabinet Secreatry says the processing of documents and contracts for candidates hired during the Qatar recruitment drive is progressing well, and departures are approaching.

The CS said the 72 applicants have secured employment in the Gulf country, but the recruiting agencies are unable to notify them when and where to go for the signing of their offer letters.

"Please come to KICC on Monday to sign your offer letter and to be processed for traveling," Mutua said.

Those affected by this communication are whose names appear on the list attached herewith.

Meanwhile, the CS said compulsory pre-departure orientation and training for successful candidates who have already signed their offer letters will take place on Saturday, November 30, at KICC, Nairobi, starting at 8am.

All relevant candidates have been notified, he said.

"Do not attend the pre-departure training tomorrow (Saturday) if you haven’t signed your offer letter. Your training will be scheduled after signing and completing the necessary medicals.

"If you have passed and been called but have not yet signed your offer letter, please come on Monday to the notified location between 9am - 5pm," Mutua said.

What if you provided contact details but you have not received a call yet?

CS Mutua says if you haven’t been notified to come and sign your offer letter, it means your letter is still being processed in Qatar. You will be contacted as soon as it is ready.

The government on Wednesday, November 27, suspended the overseas job recruitment exercise in what Mutua said was to take stock of the progress so far and process received applications.

"We are stopping for now for a short time so that I can hold a meeting with all the parties concerned so I can make sure that the passports are out, certificate of good conduct is out, so that I can push for that processing to be done before we resume."

Speaking in Nyandarua county, Mutua said 5,931 Kenyans had secured job opportunities abroad since the launch of the national recruitment exercise on November 20.

"I want to assure all successful applicants that they will be contacted by Wednesday next week, and a new schedule for the exercise will be announced after Jamhuri Day," he said.

The exercise was halted after covering six counties.

Mutua said Nakuru registered the highest number at 2,516 followed by Nyandarua (925), Kitui (901), Machakos (752), Baringo (640) and Makueni (410).

"We are optimistic about expanding the programme to cover all 47 counties, ensuring that more Kenyans benefit from these opportunities," Mutua said.
