Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi led energy sector and Koibatek community members in a tree planting exercise on November 15, at Koibatek Forest in Baringo.
The planting of 22,000 tree seedlings at Sachangwan (Kiangano) site is in line with the Government's agenda to plant 15 billion trees by 2032.

Speaking at the event, the CS called on Kenyans to take advantage of the rains and plant more trees.
He also noted that the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum and SAGAs in the energy sector have a target to plant 50,000 tree seedlings this month.
The CS further commended Kenya Pipeline Company for being the lead parastatal in undertaking tree-planting initiatives in Baringo County.
Also present during this exercise were State Department of Petroleum Representative Abdul Karim Mohamed, KPC Safety Health and Environment Department representative Simon Rugut, and local area Chief and County Officials.
