President William Ruto on Tuesday hosted Members of Parliament from Nairobi county at State House, Nairobi.
The leaders discussed the ongoing rehabilitation of the Nairobi River basin.
Ruto said he was impressed with the progress of the Nairobi Rivers regeneration, saying that garbage has been cleared in at least 75 kilometres of the 94 kilometres stretch.
"Additionally, 69 km of the basin has been unclogged and 56 km levelled. To conserve the rivers' basin, 272,000 seedlings have been planted and 268 tree nurseries established," the President said.
The Head of State urged the city MPs to set aside political differences and support the initiative, which he described as a key step toward upgrading the status of Nairobi.
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, among other senior state officials, were also present.
