President William Ruto's tour of the Nyanza region enters its second day today.
Ruto will be in Homabay for a series of activities, including commissioning the Oyugis water project and later inspecting the Homa Bay fish market.
He will then launch the Rusinga Ring road before wrapping up the day with the thanksgiving ceremony of Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi.
Immigration PS to meet CSOs
Immigration PS Julius Bitok will host a high-level interactive breakfast meeting with representatives of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), religious leaders and the private sector among other interest groups.
He is meeting the groups to discuss the draft regulations on the registration of persons amendment rules 2024 and the birth and deaths registration amendment rules 2024 to streamline Maisha Namba and supporting ecosystem that features Maisha card, Maisha Namba Database, Maisha Card (3rd generation) and Maisha Namba unique personal identification number (UPI).
The meeting will be held at the Serena Hotel at 10 am.
Lenolkulal graft case
Convicted ex-Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal will appear in court for his mitigation before sentencing.
Lenolkulal was on Wednesday found guilty of corruptly receiving Sh83.3 million for the supply of petroleum products to the Samburu county government when he was the governor.
Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzyoki said from the evidence produced in court by the prosecutors, it was not in doubt that Lenolkulal and his proxy Hesbon Ndathi were the ultimate beneficiaries of the public funds.
Obado corruption case
The corruption case against former Migori Governor Okoth Obado is scheduled for an inter-partes hearing today before a new magistrate at the anti-corruption court in Nairobi.
