President William Ruto has underscored the government's commitment to enhancing electricity connectivity at the grassroots level.

The President said this is a pivotal strategy to catalyse business activities across the country.

Ruto was speaking on Wednesday during the commissioning of Kimuka Power Substation in Kajiado County.

"The last mile electricity connectivity at the grassroots is one of our government's priorities to foster business activity across the country," Ruto said.

Ruto said that Kimuka Substation will play a crucial role in strengthening the existing power distribution network, effectively offloading 80 megawatts from the overloaded Nairobi North Substation.

The head of state said that the strategic redistribution is expected to mitigate system instability, ensuring a more reliable and sustainable electricity supply across the region.

"This will reduce system instability, guarantee adequate and reliable electricity supply and boost our industrialisation agenda," he said.

Ruto said that the Substation is set to benefit over 600,000 people.

They include those in areas such as Karen, Dagoretti, Kikuyu, Kabete, Ngong, Matasia, Magadi and Ngemwa.
