The Kenya Revenue Authority has announced that its Integrated Customs Management Systems (iCMS) system will not be available for six hours from Saturday 10 pm.
KRA said during the six hours, they will be conducting system maintenance to the iCMS system.
The maintenance will end on Sunday, July 7 at 4am.
" Kenya Revenue Authority informs all stakeholders that there will be a scheduled maintenance of the iCMS system from Saturday, July 6 from 10am. The maintenance will end on Sunday, July 7 at 4am," KRA said on Saturday through its social media page.
The maintenance will therefore affect all iCMS users as the system will be unavailable.
"Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted," the authority said.
The iCMS is a modern and efficient system that runs on the latest technological platforms which seamlessly connects with KRA's internal systems and external stakeholders' systems to achieve faster cargo clearance.
Run by the KRA, iCMS enables trade efficiency by increasing speed in the cargo clearance process.
It reduces complexities associated with several systems of the automation of manual cargo clearance processes and re-engineering processes.
The system aims at improving Kenya's ease of doing business by simplifying processes that enable pre-arrival processing and entrenching a process that will allow Authorized Economic Operators (AEOs) to enjoy greater preferential treatment that previously could not be accorded to them due to limitations of the previous SIMBA system.
ICMS also counters security threats through a robust risk management system that ensures a secure trade chain.
It facilitates regional integration by integrating with regional Revenue administrations, and providing for transparency of the cargo as the system eliminates human intervention.
