Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has given the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) six-day ultimatum to produce the police officer who allegedly shot dead a protester in Nairobi CBD on Thursday evening.

Wamuchomba spoke in Ndumberi village Kiambu town during a graduation ceremony of 467 private security guards.

"Our children got injured yesterday during their peaceful protests and there will be someone who will pay for this one day. I want to call upon Ipoa to oversight the activities of the police officers who shot Rex," she said.

"We have given Ipoa six days to bring us the culprit. If you will not bring him we will come to pick him up ourselves through the powers given to us by the Constitution."

She said that the young generation has come of age and can read and understand how the Kenyan Parliament works.

"Parliament is not speaking or acting according to the will of the people. It is acting according to what it is being told by one person who we elected to lead the country" she said.

She, however, said that parliamentarians are elected to represent the wishes of the people and not to make laws that will oppress the same people who elected them.

The Director of Public Prosecution Renson Ingonga has since ordered Ipoa to carry out thorough investigations into the matter and give a report not later than 21 days.

Rex Masai Kanyike was allegedly killed during Thursday's anti-Finance Bill protests in Nairobi.
