As friends and family gathered at Lang'ata cemetery for the burial service of reggae DJ Njambi Koikai, the deceased's father Daniel Koikai was conspicuously missing.
His tribute was delivered by a family member Edward Mucheru Njambi.
In the tribute, the father said:
"It has been one of the most difficult episodes in my life, especially for your close family. Your sudden and unexpected death cut short your very bright and promising career at a time when you had already entered the political arena," he said.
"Having vied for the Member of Parliament for Dagoreti South in the 2022 elections where you came an impressive fourth, my tribute to you will be my contribution to your life," he said.
Daniel added that he met Njambi when she was joining high school considering she was working abroad during her early years.
"When I saw you, I saw myself. When we spoke at length about your education, you later went to Alia Girls then to Makini School where you did your O-levels then joined Saint Christophers for your A levels," the father said in the tribute.
"You are a shining beacon to many and your legacy needs to be continued," the father added.
Daniel had however attended his daughter's memorial service which was held on Thursday.
During the service which was held at Nairobi Chapel along Ngong Road, Daniel opened up about the final special moments with his late daughter.
While mourning his daughter in a funeral programme seen by the Star, Koikai shared details about his relationship with his late daughter.
He described their relationship as full of both good and bad times.
The businessman went on to reveal a message his daughter sent him just a day before she died.
In her message, Njambi, who was in the hospital at the time, expressed her gratitude to her father and listed a few items she wanted him to bring her.
Njambi’s father wished for his daughter’s soul to rest in eternal peace.
Koikai died on June 3, 2024, and was laid to rest at Langata cemetery on Friday.
