Opposition leader Raila Odinga joins a group of dancers in a song when he arrived at Chungwa house in Nairobi on June 6, 2024.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga was Thursday warmly welcomed at Chungwa House when he arrived for a meeting with the conveners of the Limuru III event.

A group of dancers, received him with Kikuyu songs while escorting him to the offices.

The elderly dancers, both men and women, dressed in striking traditional brown regalia were seen singing the songs while waving fly whisks.

The dancers performed intricate steps that set the stage for an exuberant reception of the leader and his team.

Raila who was accompanied by several leaders could not resist joining in the festive atmosphere as the rhythmic beats filled the air.

He was seen making small, joyful steps alongside the dancers clearly enjoying the cultural display.

Among those who accompanied the leader were National Assembly's Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi and Kisii Governor Simba Arati.

Those in attendance at the meeting were Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni and former Laikipia Governor Nderitu Muriithi.

During the meeting, Raila expressed his support for the one man one vote one shilling principle spearheaded by some leaders from the region.

“I want to agree with the phrase one man one vote one shilling. I agree with this,” Raila told the media.

He said devolution is about equity in the sharing of resources in our country, not equality

“That means you take count of the number of people where they are because services are for the people. One of the discussions in Limuru III was the issue of resource sharing in the country Somehow this issue has been misrepresented as if it is discriminating against some parts of the country. Nothing could be further from the truth,” he added.
