Barely six months after two Kwale MPs apologised to ODM leader Raila Odinga for working with the Kenya Kwanza, the leaders have gone back against their promise.

Kwale Senator Issa Boy and Woman Representative Fatuma Masito said they will continue working with Governor Fatuma Achani.

Boy said he will support Achani, “come rain, come sunshine!”

"I want to make it clear today that I will work with Achani for the sake of development," he said.

Boy said he is not afraid of the outcome of his declaration.

He spoke last week during a tree planting exercise at Godoni in Shimba Hills National Reserve, Matuga subcounty.

"I am speaking openly on live TV, let them go report and punish me," he said.

The Senator said politics of political parties is long gone and people should focus on development.

For the sake of transforming the lives of Kwale people, he said he will continue supporting Achani.

Boy urged his critics to join him and support the governor.

He said party politics should not be used to stifle development.

Despite being elected through different political parties, their mission remains the same; to promote development and unity.

Boy said after five years, people will not judge them based on their political parties but on what they delivered.

"The only way we can help people is to unite for a common goal," he said.

Achani praised Boy for remaining strong and supporting women's leadership.

She said Boy is an excellent example of a good leader who loves peace and development.

The governor said putting aside their different political and party affiliations is a show of a mature democracy.

"I appreciate the senator's efforts to work with me. His commitment demonstrates good leadership," she said.

Achani said Boy's support has enabled her to hasten development and deliver improved services.

Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa urged Kwale leaders to unite and stop fighting the government.

"Those condemning Boy for working with Achani and the government are clueless, they should embrace cooperation," she said.
