President Ruto makes new appointments to State agencies

Among those appointed is ex-Nairobi county assembly speaker Benson Mutura.

President William Ruto has made new appointments to various state agencies.

In a gazette notice dated May 24, Ruto has appointed former Nairobi county assembly speaker Benson Mutura as the new chairperson of the Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority Board. 

Ruto said Mutura will chair the board for three years from the date of his appointment. 

" I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya appoint Benson Mutura Kang'ara to be the Chairperson of the Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority Board for three (3) years," the gazette notice read in part. 

Mutura's appointment takes effect from May 24, 2024.

Additionally, Ruto appointed Mohamed Said Rajab to be the new non-executive chairperson for the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO board. 

He will serve as the non-executive chairperson of the Board of the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO, for three (3) years.

Rajab's appointment also takes effect from May 24, 2024. 

The President further appointed Dr Ningala Kalachu as the new chairperson for the Council of the Veterinary Medicines Directorate.

" I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and appoint Dr Nangila Kalachu to be the Chairperson of the Council of the Veterinary Medicines Directorate, for a period of three (3) years," Ruto said. 

Kalachu's appointment takes effect as of May 24, 2024. 

Further, Ruto appointed General Charles Muriu Kahariri as the National Museums of Kenya Chairperson.

"Member to be member of the Steering Committee of the Taskforce on the Development of Kenya Home of Human Origins Museum and Science Park in the Lake Turkana Basin," Ruto said. 

"The appointment of Gen Francis Omondi Ogolla is revoked," the gazette notice reads in part.
